Beneath a ruined fortress, a lethal fantasy underworld turns every coming-of-age trial into a desperate expedition for treasure, escape, and forbidden power. Catacomb Kids is a 2D action roguelike with the tension of a dungeon crawler and the improvisational chaos of a physics-driven platformer, where a single bad decision can end an entire run. Its pixel-art caverns feel grimy, dangerous, and oddly playful, packed with monsters, unstable traps, hidden rooms, and relics that are often as threatening as the creatures guarding them. Permanent death gives every potion, cursed item, and unopened chest real weight, while character perks and discovered gear encourage experimenting with different approaches. Runs also involve managing hunger, injuries, status effects, equipment durability, and the unpredictable consequences of combining magical items.

What separates Catacomb Kids from more traditional roguelikes is its emphasis on platforming movement and systemic slapstick; a fight can become a disaster when an explosive spell breaks the floor, wakes a monster, or sends loot into a pit. The hand-drawn pixel visuals give each cave, sewer, crypt, and abandoned room a distinct personality, while the generated layouts keep exploration uncertain even after many attempts. Its harsh learning curve resembles Spelunky and Noita more than a relaxed loot RPG, demanding patience, curiosity, and a willingness to lose progress spectacularly.
