Each run sends you through a newly assembled ship layout, so room connections, loot, threats, and useful equipment never stay predictable for long. You search cabins and storage areas for crafting materials, medical supplies, power resources, and components needed to progress, while manually handling drawers, doors, and objects with VR motion controls. Combat favors caution over heroics: the crossbow can stop enemies from a distance, but ammunition remains precious, encouraging traps, cover, stealth, and improvised distractions instead. Death carries real weight because learning the ship’s rules, conserving gear, and judging when to run become the central survival loop rather than merely shooting everything in sight.

What separates Cosmodread from many VR scare attractions is its roguelike unpredictability and resource-driven design; it asks players to make tense decisions, not just endure scripted jump scares. Its visuals are deliberately spare, but that restraint helps the sound design, darkness, narrow halls, and tactile interactions carry the dread. White Door Games clearly builds on the pressure of Dreadhalls while adding more scavenging, crafting, and combat options for players who want a fuller survival experience.
