Dead Block

Rock ’n’ roll turns into a supernatural weapon in this cartoonish 1950s zombie siege, where every blast from the radio raises more hungry corpses from the grave. Dead Block trades grim survival horror for colorful B-movie comedy, following construction worker Jack Foster, traffic warden Foxy Jones, and eternally snack-minded scout Mike Bacon as they barricade abandoned buildings against the undead. The setup is silly on purpose, but the pressure is real: zombies pour in from every vulnerable door, window, and hole unless the survivors can secure the place before the next wave overwhelms them.

Matches revolve around scavenging each building for wood, nails, tools, food, and weapons, then deciding how best to spend limited supplies. Players hammer boards across entry points, lay traps, repair damaged defenses, and search rooms for useful gear while listening for the groans of zombies breaking through nearby. Direct combat is available with melee weapons and firearms, but brawling is often the least efficient answer when a well-placed trap or reinforced barricade can hold a whole route. Each survivor brings different strengths to the defense, encouraging players to divide responsibilities between construction, scavenging, trap placement, and emergency zombie control. Solo play works well for tactical experimentation, while cooperative multiplayer makes the frantic resource management considerably more entertaining.

Dead Block stands out through its mix of tower-defense planning, third-person action, and exaggerated Saturday-morning-cartoon presentation. Its 1950s rockabilly style, goofy character banter, and absurd zombie premise give it a personality that feels far lighter than Left 4 Dead, even when a barricade collapses at the worst possible moment. Buildings function as compact puzzle boxes rather than open maps, rewarding players who learn their layouts and prepare defenses before panic sets in. Fans of co-op zombie games who want more planning and less constant shooting will find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers can appreciate its accessible objectives and playful tone.
