Gangs of Sherwood (v1.7.268191 & ALL DLC)

Nottingham’s familiar outlaw legend becomes a loud, sci-fi-tinged co-op brawler where the Sheriff rules through armies, war machines, and oppressive technology. Gangs of Sherwood casts Robin Hood, Marian, Friar Tuck, and Little John as distinct heroes fighting to turn a crushed population into an active rebellion. The tone is more arcade action than medieval simulation: expect exaggerated weapons, glowing gadgets, airborne attacks, and a stylized dystopia built around the bones of old Sherwood folklore. Solo players can take on the campaign alone, but the design clearly shines brightest with a full four-person crew.

Missions send the Merry Men through combat-heavy levels packed with Nottingham soldiers, armored elites, turrets, and oversized mechanical threats. Each character fills a different combat role, from Robin’s mobile ranged archery and Marian’s agile close-quarters strikes to Tuck’s support abilities and Little John’s crowd-crushing power. Players loot gold from raids, rescue civilians, complete optional objectives, and spend resources at the hideout to improve weapons, unlock skills, and strengthen the rebellion before harder operations. Co-op encourages coordinated specials and revives, although the straightforward objectives and repeated enemy encounters make it more accessible than deeply tactical action RPGs.

Its strongest idea is the way a classic Robin Hood cast is reworked into a colorful resistance squad battling a techno-feudal regime. Character builds provide room to tailor abilities and gear, while the varied heroes make repeat runs with different friends feel noticeably different. The campaign does not have the sprawling exploration or loot depth of Diablo, but its mission-based structure and four-player teamwork land closer to games such as Warhammer: Vermintide or Strange Brigade. Players looking for a polished, story-rich solo RPG may find it limited, while groups wanting a breezy co-op action game with an unusual fantasy-tech setting should find plenty to enjoy.
