A decaying orbital station hangs beside a black hole, mixing rusted sci-fi corridors with cosmic horror and occult dread. Hellpoint is a demanding action RPG built around the slow, deliberate tension of Souls-like combat, but its setting gives the familiar formula an identity all its own. You awaken as an artificial being sent to uncover why Irid Novo collapsed into madness, while hostile creatures and godlike forces occupy its abandoned laboratories, temples, and industrial guts. The mood stays bleak and oppressive, supported by unsettling sound design and a story that rewards players willing to piece together its fragmented lore.

Combat revolves around careful stamina management, timed dodges, blocks, and punishing melee strikes, with guns and catalysts offering ranged alternatives when a fight gets too crowded. Weapons are more than simple stat sticks: continued use unlocks special abilities, encouraging commitment to a favorite blade, polearm, firearm, or strange energy tool. Irid Novo functions as a large interconnected maze, with shortcuts, concealed routes, environmental puzzles, and bosses that can be tackled in a flexible order. Its most distinctive system is the station’s real-time orbit around the black hole, which periodically alters enemy layouts and strength, starts invasions, and can make certain boss encounters available.

Hellpoint stands out because its space-station setting feels less like a cosmetic swap for medieval fantasy and more like a genuinely alien world shaped by quantum disaster and religious obsession. The changing cosmic clock adds welcome unpredictability to repeat visits, while a wide selection of armor and weapons allows builds focused on brute force, agility, ranged damage, or arcane-style abilities. Full campaign co-op works both online and locally, with a second player able to keep their earned progress rather than functioning as a disposable helper. Fans of Dark Souls, The Surge, and bleak exploratory RPGs should find plenty to like, especially if they enjoy obscure lore and challenging encounters; newcomers can join in too, but patience is essential.
