Combat revolves around choosing the right tool before the undead close the distance. Dorian carries a knife for last-ditch melee encounters, a shotgun that hits hard at moderate range but demands frequent reloads, an assault rifle with scarce ammunition, and a grenade launcher for clearing clustered enemies. Encounters ask you to manage limited resources, keep moving around rushing hordes, and reserve explosive firepower for tougher threats or boss fights. Between firefights, the campaign adds light quest elements and simple environmental puzzles, breaking up the shooting with objectives that push the rescue mission forward. The structure is largely linear, making it easy to pick up for a short, straightforward single-player run.

What separates Invention 4 from more polished zombie shooters is its rough-edged indie character and its focus on a small weapon set with clearly defined combat roles.
