Boat and diver gameplay receive separate tools and abilities, while modern conveniences such as save-anywhere support and rewind make the challenge far less punishing than a strictly authentic 8-bit relic.

What separates Retro Edition from a straightforward remake is its willingness to build on the underlying role-playing ideas of the original rather than merely polishing its visuals. New chapters, assignments, enemy threats, weapons, collectibles, achievements, a gallery, and a music player give the campaign more structure and replay value than a short nostalgia trip.
