A scruffy Cornish island becomes the backdrop for a warm, hand-drawn adventure about two kids determined to turn a boring summer into a legend. Knights And Bikes follows Nessa and Demelza as they pedal through beaches, villages, ruins, and overgrown paths in pursuit of buried treasure, while an old supernatural threat gradually pushes into their make-believe world. Its tone is playful and distinctly British, full of cardboard forts, questionable inventions, eccentric locals, and the kind of childhood imagination that turns everyday junk into heroic equipment. Beneath the colourful presentation, the story carries real emotional weight as both girls deal with problems far bigger than a treasure map.

Most of the action revolves around riding bikes through compact areas, searching for secrets, completing environmental puzzles, and clearing obstacles with improvised weapons. One character can hurl a frisbee, while the other uses items such as water balloons, plungers, and a powerful boombox to stun enemies, activate switches, or break through barriers. Bike upgrades open new routes and add practical abilities, giving exploration a gentle Metroidvania-like rhythm without making the game overly demanding. The campaign works alone with control switching between the girls, but local co-op is the ideal way to play, since coordinating attacks and messing around with the environment captures the pair’s friendship best.

Its sketchbook-like art, animated doodles, and wonderfully noisy sound design give every location the feel of a child’s illustrated adventure book brought to life. Rather than relying on deep combat or complex systems, the game stands out through personality: you can pet Captain Honkers the goose, customise bikes, smash objects for scraps, and uncover strange island folklore at an easygoing pace. Puzzles remain accessible, though later encounters ask players to use each heroine’s tools more thoughtfully. Fans of Costume Quest, The Goonies-style treasure stories, and cooperative adventures with heart should find plenty to love, while newcomers can enjoy it as an approachable, character-driven co-op journey.
