Lilium (v0.9)

A nuclear blast hurls a battle-hardened hero through a portal and into the isolated Western Islands, turning a supposed final victory into a desperate fight to survive somewhere far beyond home. Lilium is a compact action RPG built around dense exploration rather than a huge map padded with empty space. Its tone mixes post-apocalyptic displacement with deliberately playful fantasy adventure, where dangerous ruins, strange islands, and deadly enemies share space with the possibility of winning a fight using an absurd household object. Players choose a male or female protagonist, name them, and select an initial class before setting out to uncover this unfamiliar land.

Most of the time is spent roaming islands on foot or by boat, taking on a short central questline and roughly a dozen optional jobs, then pushing into caves and dungeons for loot, encounters, and hidden rewards. Combat supports swords, clubs, axes, bows, stealth attacks, poison-coated weapons, and flaming arrows, while the interactive world encourages improvisation: objects can be collected, moved, thrown, or used as unlikely weapons. Character growth develops through actions as well as equipment, so frequent running improves speed and surviving punishment builds toughness. Trading, looting, and upgrading gear give exploration a practical purpose, especially when preparing for tougher opponents and the island’s major bosses.

Lilium’s strongest idea is its commitment to letting players meddle with nearly everything they see. The world is small enough to learn, yet packed with secrets, movable clutter, and alternate ways to approach combat, giving it more personality than many similarly sized indie RPGs. Its skill-by-use progression and object-driven experimentation evoke older open-ended role-playing games, while the focused quest count keeps the adventure from becoming a massive time commitment. It suits players who enjoy compact Elder Scrolls-style exploration, flexible character building, and a rough-edged adventure that values curiosity over cinematic spectacle.
