A derelict lunar research complex becomes a claustrophobic trap in this compact sci-fi horror adventure set in 2049. You awaken inside AstroGenica Lunar Nexus with no clear explanation of what happened, then uncover a trail of failed experiments, fractured crew recordings, and an alien presence that turns fear into something physical. The mood leans hard into retro-futurist dread: sterile corridors, flickering machinery, ominous shadows, and a soundtrack designed to make every empty room feel unsafe. Lunar Nightmare favors tense atmosphere and cosmic unease over nonstop action, with a story about human curiosity pushing far beyond its limits.

Progress comes from searching the base, collecting inventory items, reading environmental clues, and solving audio- and cyberpunk-flavored puzzles that unlock the next section of the nightmare. A flashlight helps navigate the darkness, while a retro-styled blaster gives you a fighting chance against androids controlled by rogue AI; ammo and enemy encounters keep combat from becoming a pure power fantasy. Some sequences shift outside the facility, letting you drive lunar vehicles across the Moon’s bleak surface to reach distant locations. Running is available, controls can be rebound, and the campaign is built as a focused experience that generally lasts under three hours, though slower players can spend longer examining logs and background details.

Its strongest feature is the blend of old-school sci-fi presentation with modern Unreal Engine 5 lighting, creating a lunar base that feels equal parts vintage space thriller and contemporary haunted house. Jump scares appear, but the larger emphasis rests on exploration, puzzle progression, and gradually learning why the station has collapsed into madness. High-end hardware can push the visual side with 4K output and ray tracing, although the deliberate pacing matters more than graphical spectacle.
