An abandoned suburban house becomes a trap when a local news crew arrives to film a cheap paranormal segment around Anthony Smith, the infamous Easter Ripper. Murder House turns that slasher-film setup into a tense, deliberately old-school survival horror ordeal, complete with grainy fifth-generation visuals, fixed cinematic camera shots, and oppressive VHS-era grime. What begins as an opportunistic story quickly becomes a fight to escape a killer who may not be as dead as the authorities claim. The mood is nasty, claustrophobic, and knowingly rooted in the grimy direct-to-video horror of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Players control reporter Emma as she searches the house, its grounds, and nearby locations for tools, keys, clues, and ways forward while managing threats that grow steadily more dangerous. Tank controls and shifting camera angles deliberately limit visibility, making every narrow hallway and blind corner feel risky; a controller suits the intended control scheme best. Progress relies on classic adventure-horror puzzle solving and careful item use rather than constant combat, although fleeing and surviving sudden encounters are just as important. The campaign rewards attention to environmental details, and different choices and outcomes encourage repeat runs for players determined to see every conclusion.

Puppet Combo’s lo-fi presentation is more than a novelty: pixelated character models, distorted audio, harsh lighting, and awkwardly framed cameras create a convincing lost PlayStation-style horror release. Murder House understands that limitation can produce fear, using restricted movement and unreliable sightlines to make a familiar stalker premise genuinely unsettling. Its compact scope makes it far less sprawling than Resident Evil, but it shares that series’ love of mansion puzzles and resource-conscious dread while leaning harder into slasher brutality. Fans of Puppet Combo’s Babysitter Bloodbath, PS1-era horror, and tense single-sitting scares find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers should expect intentionally stiff controls rather than modern action-horror convenience.
