Game Overview

An undead prince tries to earn respect by planting sinister settlements across a colorful kingdom that insists on casting the living as the villains. NecroCity blends city building, real-time strategy, and tower defense into a playful campaign about expanding a meticulously bureaucratic realm of bones, ghosts, and questionable paperwork. Every map revolves around protecting a central ziggurat while would-be heroes march in to ruin the operation. The tone stays mischievous rather than grim, with cute skeletal laborers, absurd fantasy politics, and an underdog story told from the monsters’ perspective.

Each mission asks you to establish a functioning outpost before enemy waves overwhelm it. Skeleton workers harvest materials, produce supplies, and fuel structures with necromantic power, while scouting reveals useful terrain and incoming threats. You lay walls to funnel attackers, position towers and traps around choke points, and construct military buildings that turn your workforce into a defensive army. Active pause lets you stop the action to issue commands and redesign a failing defense, making the game approachable for players who enjoy strategy but dislike frantic micromanagement. Heroes and other allied undead characters join the roster as controllable battlefield specialists, bringing timed abilities that can rescue a vulnerable line or capitalize on a carefully prepared trap route.

Its strongest idea is the upgrade-mod system, which lets defensive tools behave in radically different ways instead of merely receiving bigger damage numbers. A magical projectile can gain splash effects, leap between enemies, or interact with life-stealing and support-focused bonuses, encouraging experimentation from map to map. Grid-based construction makes layouts readable, but varied environments and shifting enemy pressure demand more thought than simply surrounding the objective with towers. NecroCity suits players who like the planning of They Are Billions or Dungeon Keeper-style monster management, but want shorter, more humorous missions and hands-on hero skills. Strategy veterans can chase efficient builds and inventive kill corridors, while newcomers benefit from pausing whenever the undead administration needs a meeting.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

How do I fix missing DLL errors for NecroCity?

After extracting NecroCity, navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

The full archive is 5.32 GB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Do I need to run the game as administrator?

Usually, no. Start the game normally from the extracted folder. If you see a permissions or save error, check that the folder is writable and follow the game's documented fix. Only grant administrator access when a trusted game's specific setup requires it.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

NecroCity requires a 2GB & AMD 7970 or nVidia 770 or greater or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Check that extraction completed and your PC meets the system requirements, including Version 11. Note any error message before choosing a fix. If it identifies a missing runtime, install the required DirectX components or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

A warning needs to be investigated; the download source alone cannot confirm that a file is safe. Keep your security software enabled and review the detection details. Do not run or restore a flagged file unless you have verified that it is a false positive. If you are unsure, leave it quarantined.
