NINJA GAIDEN: Master Collection bundles Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, charting the Dragon Ninja’s battles against fiends, rival clans, and globe-spanning conspiracies. The tone is proudly over-the-top: one minute Ryu is carving through demonic armies in a burning city, the next he is dueling a boss that fills the screen. Beneath the cinematic excess sits a famously unforgiving hack-and-slash series that rewards players who learn its systems instead of merely mashing buttons.

Combat revolves around fast weapon strings, aerial attacks, projectile tools, evasive movement, blocking, counterattacks, and the devastating Ultimate Technique charge attacks that tear through groups of enemies. Each entry has its own feel: Sigma establishes the deliberate, defensive foundation; Sigma 2 pushes enemy counts and weapon variety; Razor’s Edge emphasizes brutal counterplay, Steel on Bone executions, and a more aggressive pace. Ryu gains access to blades, claws, scythes, staffs, bows, magic, and more, while challenge missions and higher difficulties demand sharp timing, encounter knowledge, and resource management. Several chapters also let players control Ayane, Rachel, Momiji, or Kasumi, with character availability and modes varying between the three games; the collection’s tag system in Sigma 2 lets compatible heroines switch mid-battle.

What endures is the sheer physicality of every fight: enemies react violently, weapons have distinct rhythms, and even ordinary encounters can become tense miniature duels. The package includes the previously released costumes and much of the extra single-player content, giving completionists plenty of missions, weapon upgrades, and punishing difficulty tiers to master. These versions are based on the Sigma releases rather than the original Xbox editions, so veterans may notice altered content and design choices, while online multiplayer is not part of the collection. Fans of Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, or demanding character-action games should find a lot to respect here, but it especially suits players willing to endure repeated defeats on the road to mastery.
