Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition is a cinematic 2.9D action-adventure that reimagines Abe’s Exoddus with darker stakes, larger environments, and a heavier emphasis on survival. Fresh from the RuptureFarms breakout, Abe discovers that the Glukkons’ exploitation of Mudokons runs far deeper than one slaughterhouse, sending him through mines, rail yards, deserts, and hostile corporate facilities. The tone balances oddball creature design and dark comedy with an unusually bleak story about propaganda, addiction, and organized oppression.

Most levels ask you to sneak past Slig guards, environmental traps, surveillance systems, and lethal machinery while locating and rescuing groups of Mudokons. Abe can distract enemies, possess certain foes through chanting, loot lockers and trash bins for ingredients, then craft items such as stun devices, smoke screens, flares, and explosive tools. Followers can be armed, directed to work stations, and led through hazards, so success depends on awareness as much as platforming reflexes. Direct combat is possible when the situation turns ugly, but stealth, careful resource use, and knowing when to avoid a fight generally provide the safer route.

Its standout feature is the pressure of managing a mass escape rather than simply reaching the exit alone. The Quarma system judges how many Mudokons survive, and that performance influences which of four endings you receive, giving repeat runs real purpose for completionists. Enhanced Edition improves the overall package with refinements intended to make Abe’s movement, enemy encounters, and checkpoint flow more reliable while retaining the deliberately methodical pace. Fans of cinematic puzzle-platformers such as Little Nightmares, Inside, or the earlier Oddworld games will find plenty to like, though newcomers should expect demanding trial-and-error sequences and a willingness to replay difficult rescue scenarios.
