Combat uses traditional turn-based battles, but positioning matters through a flexible area system that lets characters attack enemies across several zones. Each Straw Hat brings a distinct role: Luffy delivers heavy single-target damage, Nami manipulates elemental weaknesses, Chopper heals, Usopp attacks safely from range, and others fill out the party with their own techniques. Outside combat, players roam large environments, hunt for treasure, solve simple environmental obstacles, craft meals and accessories, and use character-specific field abilities to reach hidden routes. Dramatic Scene objectives occasionally impose special battle conditions, rewarding smart party management and making routine encounters feel more connected to the crew’s personalities.

The strongest feature is how convincingly the game treats the entire Straw Hat crew as a playable team instead of reducing everyone but Luffy to supporting roles. Eiichiro Oda’s character and creature designs give Waford an authentic visual identity, while the colorful environments and expressive battle animations capture the show’s sense of adventure. It is more accessible and deliberate than an action-heavy anime brawler, with a pace closer to Dragon Quest or older Final Fantasy games than to Pirate Warriors. Fans who want a long, affectionate ONE PIECE story will find plenty to enjoy, while RPG newcomers get a forgiving, approachable turn-based system with enough tactical depth to keep battles engaging.
