A lost royal relic turns every run into a frantic, old-school firefight across the dangerous lands of Delvia. Project Dagger is a retro-styled FPS roguelike built around fast shooting, unpredictable routes, and the constant threat of a bad encounter ending an otherwise promising expedition. The goal is simple—return the Crown of Benevolence to its king—but the road is crowded with undead, explosive skeletons, airborne laser-spewing demons, and other threats that turn simple corridors into panic rooms. Its tone is scrappy and arcade-like rather than grimly realistic, with chunky visuals and absurd weaponry supporting the mayhem.

Runs move through randomly generated levels, so layouts, encounters, rewards, and detours keep changing as you push toward the artifact’s destination. Players gather melee and ranged weapons, level up, and select from roughly 60 perks to shape a build around mobility, survivability, close-range aggression, or ranged destruction. Shops, shrines, portal shortcuts, and similar world events provide useful decisions between battles, while eight unlockable classes add another layer of replayable character variety. Normal and Hard modes cater to different skill levels, and the One Shot mode strips everyone down to a single hit point, making awareness and aim far more important than brute-force upgrades.

Project Dagger stands out through its willingness to mix familiar boomer-shooter gunplay with roguelike improvisation and deliberately goofy enemy ideas. A TNT-carrying skeleton can be as memorable as the bigger monsters because the game treats every enemy type as a different pressure point in the arena. Changing environments and times of day help prevent its procedural structure from feeling entirely anonymous, while seeded runs give players a way to revisit the same conditions. As an Early Access title, it is still growing, with more content and bosses planned, but it already suits players who enjoy the kinetic combat of classic Doom-style shooters combined with the run-based build crafting of modern roguelites.
