Q.U.B.E. 2 (Incl. Aftermath DLC)

Game Overview

An alien monolith rises from a desert of ruined civilizations, turning isolation into a steadily more unnerving first-person puzzle adventure. Q.U.B.E. 2 casts you as archaeologist Amelia Cross, who wakes with no memory of her arrival and only a strange pair of reality-altering gloves to guide her. Commander Emma Sutcliffe provides a voice over comms, but the deeper Amelia travels through the structure, the less certain its purpose—and her own mission—becomes. The mood is clean, cerebral, and quietly ominous rather than action-heavy, with striking science-fiction spaces built around mystery and scale.

Progress comes from reading each chamber, identifying its rules, and reshaping the environment with colored modular blocks. Blue cubes create platforms or extend surfaces, red elements alter the surrounding architecture, and green devices rotate or redirect sections of a puzzle, often combining into increasingly elaborate spatial challenges. Later rooms ask for careful timing, route planning, observation, and experimentation rather than twitch reflexes, while scattered notes and conversations fill in the larger story. There is no combat to interrupt the process; the central loop is solving a room, moving deeper into the monolith, and deciding how much to trust the information Amelia receives. The included Aftermath DLC adds a substantial post-campaign chapter, with fresh puzzle spaces and more narrative material that expands the consequences of the main ending.

What separates Q.U.B.E. 2 from many first-person puzzlers is its emphasis on architectural manipulation: rooms feel less like isolated test chambers and more like enormous machines being rearranged around you. Its polished alien vistas and restrained storytelling give it a stronger sense of place than the first game, while branching late-game choices encourage discussion and make a replay worthwhile. Players who enjoy Portal’s first-person logic puzzles, The Talos Principle’s philosophical sci-fi tone, or The Turing Test’s environmental problem-solving will find a lot to like here. It suits newcomers because its mechanics are introduced clearly, but puzzle veterans should appreciate the later chambers’ layered, satisfying complexity.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

How do I fix missing DLL errors for Q.U.B.E. 2 (Incl. Aftermath DLC)?

After extracting Q.U.B.E. 2 (Incl. Aftermath DLC), navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

The full archive is 5.23 GB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Do I need to run the game as administrator?

Usually, no. Start the game normally from the extracted folder. If you see a permissions or save error, check that the folder is writable and follow the game's documented fix. Only grant administrator access when a trusted game's specific setup requires it.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

Q.U.B.E. 2 (Incl. Aftermath DLC) requires a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Check that extraction completed and your PC meets the system requirements, including Version 11. Note any error message before choosing a fix. If it identifies a missing runtime, install the required DirectX components or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

A warning needs to be investigated; the download source alone cannot confirm that a file is safe. Keep your security software enabled and review the detection details. Do not run or restore a flagged file unless you have verified that it is a false positive. If you are unsure, leave it quarantined.
