A magical forest faces collapse after the black-lum sorcerer André turns an army of Hoodlums loose on its oddball inhabitants. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a colorful 3D platform adventure that balances Saturday-morning cartoon comedy with surprisingly punchy action, following the limbless hero and his transformed friend Globox across a world in trouble. The tone is gleefully absurd rather than grim, full of sarcastic narration, bizarre enemy designs, and slapstick interruptions. Beneath the jokes sits a brisk, focused quest through pirate ships, icy peaks, deserts, and fantastical industrial strongholds.

Rayman spends most of the adventure running, jumping, swinging across gaps, collecting Lums, freeing trapped creatures, and punching Hoodlums with his telescoping fists. Temporary power-up cans dramatically change how he handles each area: Shock Rockets target distant switches and enemies, LockJaw lets him grapple onto specific points, Heavy Metal boosts his strength, and the Throttle Copter extends airtime for precision platforming. Encounters often mix movement and combat, asking players to dodge projectiles, use the right power at the right moment, and target enemies before they overwhelm the arena. Large bosses cap several stages, including elaborate transforming machines that demand timing and observation instead of simple button mashing.

What makes Rayman 3 stand out is its confident personality: its world feels like a weird animated film, yet the levels remain built around clear platforming challenges rather than endless spectacle. The GameCube-era visuals show their age in places, but the expressive animation, imaginative locations, and energetic soundtrack still carry a lot of charm, while John Leguizamo’s Globox gives the adventure extra comic character. It is a mostly linear single-player campaign, with replay value coming from missed collectibles, score chasing, and revisiting stages more cleanly. Fans of Spyro the Dragon, Jak and Daxter, and classic 3D platformers will find an inventive, accessible adventure that also gives genre veterans enough tricky jumps and combat arenas to stay engaged.
