What stands out is the collection’s willingness to preserve the awkward, personal side of independent development rather than sanding everything into a single polished package. Hand-drawn art, intentionally abrasive humor, surreal stories, and memorable soundtracks reveal McMillen’s recurring fascination with childhood, bodily grossness, isolation, and failure.
