An isolated Canadian wilderness becomes a harsh proving ground after a failed medical cure twists survivors into Vambies, feral creatures with traits of both zombies and vampires. A substantial crafting tree gradually opens up farming, food preservation, electricity, water collection, automated resource extraction, vehicles, and elaborate construction, so a crude shelter can become a fortified industrial compound.

What separates The Infected from many zombie survival sandboxes is its emphasis on practical homesteading alongside combat. Building feels functional rather than decorative, as walls, traps, storage, power systems, and crop plots directly support survival through harsher conditions and bigger attacks.
