Players can begin with a smaller custom-built world or generate larger landmasses, then harvest materials, construct useful buildings, recruit companions, raise animals, and establish a faction with its own hierarchy.

Its most distinctive feature is the combination of world construction and autonomous NPC behavior. Regions carry their own resources, creatures, and groups, while characters pursue needs and goals instead of waiting for quest markers, allowing rivalries and unexpected stories to emerge naturally. Building a tavern, bathhouse, jail, or private retreat has practical consequences, and the freedom to help, exploit, or imprison other characters supports role-playing well beyond combat.
