Day cards support a more controlled, investigative approach, Night cards draw on the city’s criminal shadows, and Monster cards reward players willing to let their health fall. As your condition worsens, the market itself shifts toward stronger inhuman abilities, but losing complete control carries a serious cost. Each run also lets you select Afflictions such as fangs, armored skin, or unnatural secretions, adding passive powers that can push a deck toward aggression, survival, resource generation, or bizarre combo play.

The standout feature is the monster-mash system: six core creatures can pair with compatible partners to produce ten hybrid forms, each opening distinct card pools and strategies. A Vampire and Wraith can become a Lich, for example, while other combinations encourage experimentation beyond the expected “damage versus defense” deck-builder routine. Nearly 400 cards, around 50 Afflictions, unlockable characters, and a Blood difficulty system give repeat sessions a steady sense of progression while challenging experienced players to accept tougher rules for faster rewards.
