A dead author’s missing manuscript pulls private investigator Ord Salomon into a distinctly Scandinavian conspiracy steeped in cold-war anxiety, family grief, and corporate secrecy. Set in 1980s Sweden, The Samaritan Paradox begins as a seemingly personal favor to Sara Bergwall, who wants help locating the final novel left behind by her father Jonatan. The search soon casts doubt on whether Jonatan truly took his own life, while clues point toward hidden wealth, suspicious arms deals, and the isolated island of Fardo. Its mood is less about jump scares than mounting unease: a patient mystery where every document, conversation, and locked drawer may conceal another layer of the truth.

Gameplay follows the classic point-and-click adventure formula, asking players to inspect hand-drawn locations, gather useful objects, question a substantial cast, and combine clues into solutions. What separates it from many modern adventure games is its commitment to the older PC format without abandoning atmosphere or presentation. The expressive illustrated art, full English voice cast with thousands of spoken lines, and lengthy original soundtrack make the investigation feel like an interactive Nordic crime serial. Some puzzles demand traditional adventure-game patience and can be deliberately opaque, so players expecting constant guidance may need to slow down and take notes.
