Historical figures and literary icons stand alongside farmers, monks, ninjas, and other recruits, giving the journey an unusual mix of myth, history, and human fragility.

Travel unfolds through randomized routes and story events where supplies, alliances, morality, and survival often pull in different directions. Decisions can lead to combat, rewards, injuries, new companions, or disasters, while the roguelike structure ensures that no two expeditions follow exactly the same path. Battles take place on hex-based maps and reward careful positioning, target priority, and smart use of each warrior’s distinctive skills against human troops and monstrous yokai. The art direction gives the game far more identity than the usual fantasy roguelike, while the roster encourages experimentation with radically different team compositions.
