Hong Kong’s streets become a blood-soaked battleground in this hard-edged action hybrid, where gunfire, katana strikes, and grimy retro-futurist style collide. You play Lieutenant Hannah Stone, leader of the elite Zombie Unit, as a routine police operation spirals into a conspiracy involving gangs, mercenaries, corporate power, and heavily armed private security. Wanted: Dead carries the brash, deliberately excessive energy of sixth-generation console action games, complete with bizarre tonal shifts, arcade-like aggression, and an unapologetically pulpy cyberpunk atmosphere. Its world mixes advanced combat hardware with clunky 1990s-inspired technology, giving the setting a distinctive, low-tech sci-fi identity.

Combat constantly asks you to switch between close-range violence and third-person shooting rather than relying on either one alone. Stone can carve through enemies with her sword, block and evade incoming attacks, fire assault rifles and SMGs from cover, toss grenades, and use executions to quickly remove dangerous opponents while regaining breathing room. Encounters are demanding, especially when armored enemies, gunmen, and melee attackers pressure you at once, so awareness of positioning, weapon ammunition, and enemy openings matters as much as reflexes. The campaign moves through compact mission areas filled with hostile squads, occasional environmental interactions, collectibles, and brief side diversions that break up the action.

Its strongest feature is the willingness to be messy, difficult, and gleefully old-school in a genre often built around smoother cinematic power fantasies. More than fifty finishing animations make successful takedowns feel vicious, while the sword-and-guns blend recalls Ninja Gaiden’s intensity filtered through a cover shooter’s structure. The uneven presentation and deliberately strange humor will not suit players seeking polished prestige storytelling, but fans of cult action games, Suda51-style weirdness, and challenging combat should find plenty to enjoy. Newcomers need patience with its punishing encounters; veterans looking for a rougher, louder throwback will likely appreciate its attitude most.
